Be More than a Transaction...Caution, contains an embarrassing story.

After two years of trying to save money I returned to using a particular software platform for one major reason....but first why did I think I could pay less?

I was very happy with our current software but a function we now needed required a jump in my subscription which, I thought, was a bit expensive and I looked for alternatives. I'm embarrassed to say that after two years and three (yes really three) trials of alternatives I returned to my original platform choice and willingly paid whatever it took.

The key differentiator for me was SUPPORT.

Most revenue is made from existing clients...

People may initially buy your product or use your service for any number of reasons:

- you happened to be the closest physically- you had what they wanted and they were in a hurry- they were referred to you by a friend- you happened to be the cheapest at the time

and lots lots more...

But if selling them something was all you did, then there are plenty of competitors who will gladly take their next purchase!

Customers join your tribe whether they intend to or not

When someone has given you their money, they've silently joined a tribe. The tribe of your customers. Let them know! You helped them with a step on their journey today. Be there for the rest of it.

The Cost?

What did my experience cost me in hard dollars to be spending hours trying to figure things out on my own (and failing), instead of being able to have 5 minutes with an expert who could help me? I'll never know exactly, but I do know it was a lot (a lot!)

So be more than a transaction. Help people on the next step of their journey and the step after that.

And if you help them, they'll help you.
