Get More from Each Step...(HINT: Focus on the constraint)

I'm sure (like me) you've experienced being busy - very busy - and then can't think what you achieved at the end of the week (or day!). In other words we're taking lots of "steps" but aren't seeing much progress.

An improvement is to take fewer steps, but get more from each step.

But where do we step?

The key is to focus on the key constraint in the business, project, team, or even relationship: What is the main chokepoint or bottleneck that's slowing us down?

With companies I work with we use tools focused around People, Strategy, Execution, and Cash to help us identify where the constraint is and where we can focus.

Identify the Symptom to Measure

If you're focused on improving an area of the business, there will always, always be a measurement somewhere that will tell you if it's working. Take consistent action and measure this result.

And of course...there's Stickability

Stick with it until you see the results begin to change. This is where having a coach really pays off. Having someone in your organisation to help you stay focused is a key accelerator in helping you improve and get bigger gains from your efforts.
