You're doing it because no one else is...

Are you facing a problem now. Personally? Professionally? With your team, or with an individual? Probably...

In these situations many of us think that our problem is unique to us. The chances are, it's not! The problem you're facing now has been experienced by others or it exists right now somewhere. If it seems hard to push through, and find a solution, take heart...

"You're doing it because no one else is..."

Jim Collins' famous book Good to Great wasn't called Bad to Good. Starting something and getting proficient is mostly fairly straightforward. But getting to "great" is much, much harder, and that's good news for you! If you bother to invest the necessary energy to engage your team or your partner, talk about what's really important, and yes, take a look in the mirror and see if the problem lies with you, there's a very very good chance that other's wont.

It's YOU against you!

My son has been playing an online game to help him with his maths and of course with a game there's a scoreboard. I asked who his biggest competitor was. He gave me the nickname of the top player. I said that's great, but asked him again. Same answer. After the third time he was questioning whether I was listening...!

I suggested that he was his own biggest competitor and to focus on making improvements in his own score. That's really all we can control.

When you choose to engage in the problem, talk with your partner(s), and "enter the danger", there's a very good chance that other's won't. If you do, you have my respect, you'll earn the respect of your team and crucially yourself.
